WOULD LIKE + INFINITIVE

There is no contracted form of would like in the question.


Would you like to come out with us tonight?

Would they like to have some wine?

What would you like to order?

Where would you like to go this weekend?



Contracted form of would like in the POSITIVE:


I'd like to be alone with you.

(I would like)

They'd like to have dinner.

He'd like to buy a new TV.

She'd like to visit her friends this weekend.



Contracted form of would not like in the NEGATIVE:


She wouldn't like to stay for the weekend.

I wouldn't like to do that.




SOME AND ANY ( EXCEPTION )

Generally we use 'some' in positive sentences and 'any' in negative sentences and questions.

SOME - Singular or plural

              Positive sentences


Use 'some' to make offers or requests.

'Some' is often used with 'would like' to offer something

to eat or drink.


- Offers

Would you like some lunch?

Would you like some biscuits?


- Requests

Can i have some cheese?

Can we have some water please?
